Looper

Last night, my boyfriend and I went to see the new movie featuring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis and Emily Blunt called Looper. Before Inception, I've never heard Joseph Gordon-Levitt name, however after watching Inception, he's getting more famous and acted in The Rise of Dark Knight. So, I guess, I must watch this. He's not that bad after all. 

The story is set on 2044, where Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) works as a looper. In the year of 2072, a time-travel machine is created. There is an organization in the future, that catch mob or if they want to get rid of someone, that someone/mob will be transported to 30 years in the past which is in year 2044 to be killed by a looper. When a looper killed someone, they will get silver plates as reward. However, if the organization "wants to close the loop", they will sent the looper's future self to 30 years back and be killed by that looper himself. The looper will know he shot his future self if he received gold plates. Then, he will have to retire and enjoy 30 years more of his life before the organization catch him and sent him back to the past to be killed.

When Joe's future self/Joe 2072 (Bruce Wills) was sent back to the past, Joe 2072 fought with Joe 2044 and ran away making sure that Joe 2044 will never kill him so that he can spend back his future time with his Chinese wife and killed the boss of the organization at that year. However, Joe has to kill him or he will be eliminated by the organization himself. 

In order to make sure Joe 2044 were not being killed from the organization, Joe 2072 saved him so that he can't vanished as there is no future Joe after Joe 2044 died. After that, he explained to Joe 2044 what really happened in future. Actually the bad man (called the Rainmaker) were here, and he wanted to eliminate him here since he's still a kid in 2044. He got clues of three boys and he are gonna kill them all here so that the future is protected. Rainmaker started to be a bad guy when he saw his mother get killed in front of his eyes.

However, Joe 2044 managed to get one of the clues and got away from Joe 2072 and from that clue he met Sara and his boy Sid. Sara was actually a telekinetic and his son is a telekinetic freak. So, after managed to kill a boy and killed all the members of the organization, Joe 2072 went to hunt Sid. When Joe 2072 almost there to kill Sara and Sid, Joe 2044 killed himself, so that Joe 2072 is dead and close the loop and hoping the circle to end. So that Sid didn't see his mother died in front of his eyes and become the Rainmaker in future.

For this movie, the story is good with a little twist over here and there. It would be more great if they showed a little bit characteristic of boy no 2 so that the audience has to do mind-guessing games to decide which one is the Rainmaker. The story is slow and sometimes will make you feel so bored. The shooting event is ridiculous, there is no way you can still get away after being shot at a very close range. What I really like about this movie is the moral story is so damn great!!

Overall, I give 3.5 out of 5, my boyfriend gave 4.0 to 5.0 rating. Meanwhile imdb.com gives 8.3/10.
